About Lucina Melesio
Reporter. Producer. Videographer.
Lucina Melesio is an award-winning journalist and multimedia producer currently reporting from Mexico City, and has previously reported from London, New York City and Washington D.C. She has produced stories for FiveThirtyEight, Scientific American, Physics World, BBC World Service, SciDev.Net, among others.
As a Fulbright Scholar she earned an MA in Journalism at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in 2016, and as a Chevening Scholar an MSc in Science Media Production at Imperial College London in 2014. She is also a graduate in Physics from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico since 2011.
Melesio founded and coordinated the Science Communication Unit at Mexico’s Institute of Physics at UNAM in 2011, and in 2012 she was invited to represent UK’s Institute of Physics' IOP Publishing in Latin America. She is fluent in Spanish.

Telly Awards 2021: Gold Winner: Online Series- Documentary
Scripted and edited one of the documentaries of Univision's Cuenta Conmigo series that won Gold for the Telly Awards's Online Series- Documentary category in 2021.

Received the Foundation's scholarship for security training, along with a travel grant from the Rory Peck Trust and ACOS alliance, for GJS' HEFAT training in Miami in June 2019.
